If you feel out of control with pornography or sexual behavior, are troubled by unwanted intrusive thoughts, or are struggling privately with atypical sexual interests, you are not alone — and these concerns are manageable. Many people carry them in silence for years, because shame or fear of being judged makes reaching out feel impossible. My work offers something different: a calm, respectful space to understand what's happening and build practical ways forward.

What You Might Be Experiencing

Pornography use that feels out of control

Using more than you want to, hiding it, trying to stop and not being able to, or noticing it affect your mood, focus, or relationship.

Compulsive sexual behavior

Sometimes called "sex addiction" — a pattern of sexual behavior that feels driven and hard to manage, and that is out of step with your values.

Unwanted intrusive thoughts

Distressing sexual or other thoughts that feel intrusive and repetitive, and that don't reflect who you are or what you actually want.

Atypical sexual interests

A private, respectful space to understand and manage sexual interests that feel distressing or hard to talk about, in a way that protects your wellbeing, relationships, and values.

You Won't Be Judged Here

Few concerns carry as much shame as these — and that shame is often the very thing that keeps people stuck. You will not be lectured, shamed, or treated as a label. My role is to help you understand your experience honestly and move toward the life and relationships you actually want.

How Therapy Can Help

I draw on evidence-based, skills-focused approaches — Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Rather than relying on willpower alone, we build concrete skills together to:

  • Understand your patterns, triggers, and what keeps them going
  • Manage urges and intense emotions without acting on them
  • Change behaviors that aren't working for you
  • Relate differently to intrusive thoughts so they lose their grip
  • Reconnect your choices with your values and the relationships you want

This is a specialized area that many clinicians are not trained to address. I have spent my career working with sensitive, highly stigmatized concerns, and I am the author of a clinical treatment guide published by Routledge on dialectical behavior therapy for problematic sexual behavior.

This May Be a Good Fit If...

  • You feel out of control with pornography or sexual behavior
  • Shame or secrecy has kept you from reaching out before
  • Unwanted intrusive thoughts are causing you distress
  • You want practical skills and a plan, not judgment
  • You value a private, respectful space to work on something difficult

Sessions are offered at my standard rates, and a free 15-minute consultation gives us a chance to see whether working together feels right. A sliding scale may be considered for individuals experiencing financial hardship — please feel free to ask.
